Stefan Haller f3ea0ab902 Extract editConfig into a shared EditConfigAction
The "edit config file" command is about to gain a second, global
keybinding alongside the existing status-panel one. Moving its body into
an action struct (the convention GlobalController already follows for
all its handlers) lets both controllers delegate to one implementation.

Stefan Haller 9b1acce0fe Remove the "Open config file" command
OpenFile (`o`) is for opening a file as if it was double-clicked in
Finder/Explorer; this is useful for binary files like PNGs, but never
for text files. You want to edit them, and there's `e` for that.

Stefan Haller 196e0a3c17 Copy gocui files into lazygit repo under pkg/gocui
I copied all files except dot files (.github and .gitignore), the _examples
folder, and go.mod/go.sum.

At some point we may want to copy the files back to the gocui repo when other
clients (e.g. lazydocker) want to use the newer versions of them.

Zak SiddiquiandStefan Haller 7d32e45f73 Add backward cycling support for all branches log view
This commit implements the ability to cycle backward through different
all branches log visualization modes, complementing the existing forward
cycling functionality. Users can now press 'A' (Shift+a) to cycle in
reverse through the available log graph views, improving navigation
efficiency when they overshoot their desired view.

Changes:
- Added RotateAllBranchesLogIdxBackward() method to BranchCommands for
backward rotation through log command candidates
- Introduced AllBranchesLogGraphReverse keybinding configuration with
  default key 'A' (uppercase)
- Implemented switchToOrRotateAllBranchesLogsBackward() handler in
StatusController that mirrors forward cycling logic
- Added English translation for "Show/cycle all branch logs (reverse)"

The implementation uses modulo arithmetic with proper handling of
negative indices to ensure seamless backward cycling through the
available log visualization options.

Stefan Haller bf56a61b71 Change condition that determines whether we are showing the dashboard
Doesn't make a difference currently, since the title is either StatusTitle when
the dashboard is showing, or LogTitle when one of the branch logs is showing.
This is going to change in the next commit, though.

Chris McDonnellandStefan Haller e67bc45d48 Split behavior of rendering allBranchesLogCmd and switching to next cmd
This now allows for leaving the status panel and returning back to the
same log command. Previously any return to the status panel would result
in the next command in the list being shown. Now, you need to press `a`,
with a log command being rendered, to rotate to the next
allBranchesLogCmd.

Stefan Haller 542525743c Make WorkingTreeState a struct, and add cherry-picking and reverting states 2025-04-20 15:53:17 +02:00
Stefan Haller 8af8f7754b Move types/enums/enums.go to working_tree_state.go
It looks like enums.go was supposed to be file that collects a bunch of enums,
but actually there's only one in there, and since it has methods, it deserves to
be in a file of its own, named after the type.

We're about to add more possible values (reverting and cherry-picking), so
working tree state seems like a more suitable name.

Stefan Haller b3215a750c Cleanup: get rid of the variadic parameter of ContextMgr.Push
Apparently this was an attempt at working around go's lack of default arguments,
but it's very unidiomatic and a bit confusing. Make it a normal parameter
instead, so all clients have to pass it explicitly.

It still doesn't update the view immediately when reloading the config, only the

code to update the panel when reloading the config is probably not justifiable.

Stefan Haller 5b613f5bc7 Remove ColoredBranchStatus and branchStatusColor
Previously the entire status was colored in a single color, so the API made
sense. This is going to change in the next commit, so now we must include the
color in the string returned from BranchStatus(), which means that callers who
need to do hit detection or measure the length need to decolorize it.

While we're at it, switch the order of ↑3↓7 to ↓7↑3. For some reason that I
can't really explain I find it more logical this way. The software out there is
pretty undecided about it, it seems: VS Code puts ↓7 first, and so does the
shell prompt that comes with git; git status and git branch -v put "ahead" first
though. Shrug.

Stefan Haller 73019574a8 Support editing multiple files at once using range selection
We pass all of them to a single editor command, hoping that the editor will be
able to handle multiple files (VS Code and vim do).

We ignore directories that happen to be in the selection range; this makes it
easier to edit multiple files in different folders in tree view. We show an
error if only directories are selected, though.

We've seen a lot of issues recently where people complain that lazygit doesn't

release but were looking at the documentation of master. Make the documentation
links in the status panel point to the release that they are using in the hope
that this will help a little bit with this problem.

Jesse Duffield 7bddf53223 Improve keybinding descriptions
This adds a bunch of tooltips to keybindings and updates some keybinding descriptions (i.e. labels).

It's in preparation for displaying more keybindings on-screen (in the bottom right of the screen),
and so due in part to laziness it shortens some descriptions so that we don't need to manage both
a short and long description (for on-screen vs in-menu). Nonetheless I've added a ShortDescription
field for when we do want to have both a short and long description.

You'll notice that some keybindings I deemed unworthy of the options view have longer descriptions,
because I could get away with it.

Jesse Duffield 51fb82d6bf Enforce single-item selection in various actions
We want to show an error when the user tries to invoke an action that expects only
a single item to be selected.

We're using the GetDisabledReason field to enforce this (as well as DisabledReason
on menu items).

I've created a ListControllerTrait to store some shared convenience functions for this.

Stefan Haller 707fa37160 Add inline status for pushing/pulling/fast-forwarding branches
When pulling/pushing/fast-forwarding a branch, show this state in the branches
list for that branch for as long as the operation takes, to make it easier to
see when it's done (without having to stare at the status bar in the lower
left).

This will hopefully help with making these operations feel more predictable, now
that we no longer show a loader panel for them.

Jesse Duffield e33fe37a99 Standardise on using lo for slice functions
We've been sometimes using lo and sometimes using my slices package, and we need to pick one
for consistency. Lo is more extensive and better maintained so we're going with that.

My slices package was a superset of go's own slices package so in some places I've just used
the official one (the methods were just wrappers anyway).

I've also moved the remaining methods into the utils package.

Jesse Duffield 4c5b1574f1 Centralise logic for obtaining repo paths
There are quite a few paths you might want to get e.g. the repo's path, the worktree's path,
the repo's git dir path, the worktree's git dir path. I want these all obtained once and
then used when needed rather than having to have IO whenever we need them. This is not so
much about reducing time spent on IO as it is about not having to care about errors every time
we want a path.

Jesse Duffield d772c9f1d4 Use sentence case everywhere
We have not been good at consistent casing so far. Now we use 'Sentence case' everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

Also Removing 'Lc' prefix from i18n field names: the 'Lc' stood for lowercase but now that everything
is in 'Sentence case' there's no need for the distinction.

I've got a couple lower case things I've kept: namely, things that show up in parentheses.
