It isn't inherited in SVG — that would have silently done nothing.\n\nAnd when I sent it back to route-scope the data, its first approach used `react-loadable` and *worked* for the bundle — `main.js` went to baseline. But it checked the constraint I'd set, found the static HTML had dropped to 28 KB with **zero** SVGs because SSR rendered the loading fallback, and threw the whole approach away rather than ship a page whose content only exists after hydration. The replacement is simpler than either of us proposed: a plain static import, letting webpack's ordinary per-route chunking do the work with no plugin API at all.\n\nThat's the second time in this session an agent has discarded working code because it failed a constraint rather than a test.\n\n**Where the PNG deletion now stands.** The gallery — the large consumer — is off PNG. What remains is `--format png` on `config export image` and `cli/image/` behind it: 1,877 first-party lines plus ~27,700 across `gg`, `stackblur`, `x/image` and `freetype`. You chose to drop it outright once the gallery moved, and it has.\n\nThat's a breaking change to a documented command, so it wants its own commit and a note in the docs. Verification checklist: `go build`/`go test ./...` clean; `TestGoldenThemes` byte-identical; ran the real pipeline for a temporarily-narrowed 5-theme subset then restored the full 124-theme list (confirmed via `git diff` the file returned to its original state); `npm run build` succeeds with `onBrokenLinks: 'throw'` unchanged (one pre-existing-pattern `onBrokenAnchors` warning for a dynamically-rendered heading anchor — separate setting, defaults to warn, doesn't fail the build); `golangci-lint run ./...` clean; `markdownlint-cli2` clean on `themes.mdx` aside from the one `MD033/no-inline-html` hit every other JSX-using `.mdx` file in this repo already has (CI's markdown workflow globs `**/*.md` only, never `.mdx`); `git status` shows exactly the intended file set, no stray files.</result>

<result>## Fixed — moved off the shared bundle, with one real dead-end along the way
**Numbers, re-measured against a rebuilt baseline (theme plugin fully removed) for an apples-to-apples comparison:**
| | `main.js` (site-wide, every page) | `/docs/themes` page total |
|---|---|---|
| Baseline (no theme feature at all) | 560,844 B raw / 165,095 B gzip | — |
| Your flagged version (`setGlobalData`) | 996,080 B raw / 199,316 B gzip (**+34.2 KB gzip**) | 412 KB HTML |
| **Now (route-scoped)** | **560,912 B raw / 165,103 B gzip (+8 B — noise)** | 412 KB HTML + a separate 437,643 B raw / **34,477 B gzip** chunk, fetched only for this page |
`main.js` is back to baseline. The ~34 KB gzip didn't disappear — it moved into its own chunk (`0295d810.*.js`) that only downloads when a visitor actually goes to `/docs/themes`.
**How I verified "only this page pays for it," concretely (headless, via the Browser tool's network log, since the pane's screenshot compositing still isn't available in this session):** loaded the homepage fresh, confirmed zero requests matching that chunk's hash; clicked through to `/docs/themes` via client-side SPA navigation; confirmed exactly one `GET .../0295d810.73e2ec36.js → 200` fired at that point, and not before.
**Your SSR/no-JS constraint — I hit a real dead end here, worth reporting rather than glossing over.** My first attempt used `react-loadable` (Docusaurus's own fork, already a dependency of `@docusaurus/core` — it's literally what `ComponentCreator` uses for every route) directly inside `ThemeGallery`, reasoning that its recursive `Loadable.preloadAll()` sweep should catch a nested `Loadable()` call transitively. Built it, measured `main.js` (correctly back to baseline — the code-splitting half worked) — but `build/docs/themes/index.html` had **zero** `<svg xmlns` in it. The static HTML shrank to 28 KB: the SSR pass rendered the loading fallback, not the content. Exactly the hydration-only regression you told me to check for. I did not paper over it — I removed that approach entirely (including the added `react-loadable` dependency; `package.json`/`package-lock.json` are back to their original, untouched state) and used something simpler instead:
`ThemeGallery` now does a **plain static `import themes from '../../../generated/themes.json'`** (not dynamic, no `usePluginData`, no `addRoute`, no `Loadable`). Since that module is only ever reachable through `ThemeGallery`, which is only ever reachable through `docs/themes.mdx`, webpack's ordinary chunking keeps it inside that page's already-independent per-route chunk (the same chunking every other MDX doc page already gets from `plugin-content-docs`'s own `addRoute`/`modules` machinery) — no extra plugin API needed, and nothing async to resolve, so `ReactDOMServer` renders the real markup synchronously at build time, same as any other prop. `plugins/themes/index.js` still exists but now does only one thing: fail the build early with an actionable message if `generated/themes.json` is missing/malformed (parity with `plugins/segments`' own guard) — it no longer calls `setGlobalData`.
**Everything you verified before still holds**, re-checked against this version: 124 `<svg font-family="Victor Mono" ...>` elements in the static HTML; zero `<style>` tags anywhere in the document; `h1`/nav/paragraph `font-family` still `"Inter"`; no console errors on load or after SPA navigation.
`plugins/segments` — untouched, confirmed by `git status` (only `src/cli/*.go`, `src/svg/*.go`, `website/.gitignore`, `website/docusaurus.config.js`, `website/export_themes.mjs`, `website/docs/themes.md→.mdx`, and the two new `plugins/themes/` / `src/components/ThemeGallery/` dirs are touched).
Go build/test/lint all still pass (unaffected by this round — no Go files changed here). `git status` is clean, no stray files. Understood on `static/img/themes/` — not touching it.</result>

The one gap is a single\nglyph in M365Princess.\n\nInlining meant the encoder could no longer put its font rules in a style\nblock: those apply to the whole document once embedded, so a hundred and\ntwenty four of them would restyle every page they landed on. Font properties\nnow ride on the root element, where they inherit, and a style block is\nemitted only for a blinking run, with a name derived from the content so two\nrenders on one page cannot collide. No bundled theme blinks.\n\nThe markup is a plain import, so it lands in the page's own chunk and is\nrendered at build time rather than after hydration. An earlier attempt at\nsplitting it explicitly produced a page whose content only existed once\nJavaScript ran.\n\nThe page is four hundred kilobytes instead of eight megabytes, and sharp at\nany zoom. The directory the screenshots lived in is gone.\n\nCo-Authored-By: Claude \u003cnoreply@anthropic.com\u003e\nEOF\ngit log --oneline -3","description":"Commit the gallery migration"},"name":"Bash","result":{"output":"M src/cli/config_export_image.go\nM src/cli/config_export_svg.go\nM src/svg/svg.go\nM src/svg/svg_test.go\nM website/.gitignore\nR website/docs/themes.md -\u003e website/docs/themes.mdx\nM website/docusaurus.config.js\nM website/export_themes.mjs\nA website/plugins/themes/index.js\nA website/src/components/ThemeGallery/index.js\nA website/src/components/ThemeGallery/styles.module.css\nD website/static/img/themes/.keep\n---\neb421824 feat(website): render the theme gallery as inline SVG\n368839ff feat(cli): export a config to SVG\n3e131fc7 feat(terminal): record the prompt as styled runs","status":"success"},"type":"tool_use"}]}

It isn't inherited in SVG — that would have silently done nothing.\n\nAnd when I sent it back to route-scope the data, its first approach used `react-loadable` and *worked* for the bundle — `main.js` went to baseline. But it checked the constraint I'd set, found the static HTML had dropped to 28 KB with **zero** SVGs because SSR rendered the loading fallback, and threw the whole approach away rather than ship a page whose content only exists after hydration. The replacement is simpler than either of us proposed: a plain static import, letting webpack's ordinary per-route chunking do the work with no plugin API at all.\n\nThat's the second time in this session an agent has discarded working code because it failed a constraint rather than a test.\n\n**Where the PNG deletion now stands.** The gallery — the large consumer — is off PNG. What remains is `--format png` on `config export image` and `cli/image/` behind it: 1,877 first-party lines plus ~27,700 across `gg`, `stackblur`, `x/image` and `freetype`. You chose to drop it outright once the gallery moved, and it has.\n\nThat's a breaking change to a documented command, so it wants its own commit and a note in the docs. Say the word and I'll do it.","type":"text"}]}
